STATEMENT: Pioneer79 Swimming Club COVID-19 update 29.04.20

29 April 2020 | adminleveridge

First of all, a huge thank you, not only from myself as Chairman of Pioneer79 Swimming Club, but also on behalf of the Coaches, teachers, lifeguards, committee members and trustees for your continued support.

Since John Dougall’s update, we have secured the Coaches with reduced pay that’s reflective of each individual’s situation, we had a fantastic talk from Olympian Rob Bale on how he went from representing a local club to our country, and Mia Prickett was our Strava Champion with some amazing training volume – well done Mia! Elsewhere, I was involved in a Swim Northwest Chairman’s discussion on how to support your club and membership.

This week (Thursday 30 April at 16:30 on Zoom) we have a nutrition talk from Mel Cronshaw, and then follows a club quiz for all members and their families on 8 May at 19:00. Each one of our swimming eggheads needs to sign up for that!

We’re still unable to confirm when swimming will resume but we will pass that information on as soon as we hear anything.

I would like to reiterate that the club will not profit from this crisis and any additional monies after core staff have been paid will be given back to the membership in the form of further fee reductions or a hardship fund.

Finally, a reminder that the voluntary fee reduction (50 per cent of the normal monthly fee) from May is open to all, but I’m thankful to all those who are able to continue paying their normal monthly fee.

Stay safe and well.
