STATEMENT: Pioneer79 Swimming Club suspension

17 March 2020 | adminleveridge

The Academy has taken the decision to close the site down after school hours to limit the amount of unnecessary people on the school site.

This measure is being taken to help ensure the safety of staff and pupils. After Tuesday (17 March) evening we will not be allowed access to the Academy pool.

The decision has been taken following the Government’s announcement to implement increased social distancing, preventing crowds gathering and carrying out unnecessary travel. It’s a decision we fully support the Academy on.

It is only right and fair to our swimmers and parents that we make this announcement.

We understand the frustration of those who have been training hard for competitions, but the health and wellbeing of our athletes, coaches and volunteers is of paramount importance to us.

We would like to apologise to everyone for any inconvenience and disappointment these cancellations may cause but hope you understand this decision has been taken out of our hands due to the unprecedented situation we are facing.

I appreciate many of you will have questions around contingency planning, fees, galas etc; if you can, please bear with the club as we respond to this news.  As a group of volunteers, we are working hard behind the scenes and aim to distribute a Q&A sheet as soon as possible.

I’d like to thank our incredible staff, swimmers, parents and the school for their patience and support through this difficult time.

Regards,

Paul Moss
