RLR MSport can confirm it will begin the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series at Sepang International Circuit (7-8 December) with James Dayson, Nick Adcock and Ian Aguilera sharing the #15 Ligier JSP320 LMP3.

Dayson was a relative latecomer to motorsport, as he was in his thirties when he first entered the USF2000 open-wheel category in 2012, but it was another four years before his maiden competitive outing in sportscars.

A Prototype Lites campaign preceded seasons in the IMSA United SportsCar Championship, Pirelli World Challenge and the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), where he eventually teamed up with RLR MSport.

The partnership was renewed for what turned out to be a turbulent 2024 season on the track, but the Vancouver, Canada-based racer is staying put in the hope of achieving representative results in the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series.

“I’m excited to be rejoining the RLR MSport crew and to be getting back into the Ligier JSP320,” said Dayson. “Sepang International Circuit is an incredible track and I’m stoked to be driving there. We also have a great driver line-up, as Nick (Adcock) had a mega year by winning the European Le Mans Series LMP3 title, and Ian (Aguilera) has improved his skills and racecraft immensely. I hope to carry the success we had together in Le Castellet forward to Asia.”

Adcock has now raced for 25 consecutive seasons, in 2022 reversing a decision to step away from international competition to join RLR MSport’s ELMS roster.

The South Africa-based racer enjoyed some success that year and rejoined the RLR fold for a super successful 2024 season.

Optimistic but thinking his best days of racing were behind him at the start of the year, he, Michael Jensen and Gael Julien accumulated a race victory and two podiums to emerge from a close-run LMP3 title battle as ELMS Champions.

As a result, the 59-year-old British entrepreneur is riding the crest of a wave and is bullish about his objectives for the forthcoming Asian season, saying: “This will be my fifth Asian Le Mans Series campaign to date. I have been Vice-Champion twice, including in the latest 2023-24 season, so it’s a championship I’m really looking to win. Our confidence is quite high off the back of our 2024 European Le Mans Series LMP3 title, although our line-up will include different drivers over the course of the season.

“I will start at Sepang with James (Dayson) and Ian (Aguilera), who I raced with in the Ultimate Cup Series and is a very exciting young talent. I really enjoy Sepang International Circuit – I regard it as one of Hermann Tilke’s best designs, as it has a good flow – and I’m looking forward to the competition immensely.”

RLR MSport fielded a Ligier JS P4 prototype for Aguilera in the 2024 Ligier European Series, and the young Mexican delivered race wins and podium finishes to end the year as Vice-Champion in the JS P4 Drivers Championship.

He has since gone on to add a World Championship to his résumé by winning the 2024 Radical World Finals at Yas Marina Circuit as part of a wider campaign in the Gulf Radical Cup, which also provides valuable mileage around Dubai Autodrome.
