RLR MSport is pleased to confirm that it has renewed its commitment to the Ligier European Series in 2024, when it will field a Ligier JS P4 prototype for Mexico’s Ian Aguilera.
As in previous years, the Ligier European Series will be a regular support act for the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), with a calendar that features heats at some of Europe’s most iconic racetracks, including Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
However, the blue riband event will undoubtedly be the mid-season ‘Le Mans Heat’ that is run in tandem with official testing for the world’s greatest motor race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans (9 June).
RLR MSport, which won the JS2 R Teams title in 2022 before launching a multi-class assault on the series last year in 2023, has once again committed to the entry-level sportscar category.
The former Champion squad has extended its relationship with Mexican racer Aguilera, who accrued two podium finishes and a pole position against a super-competitive field during his rookie 2023 season.
“The 2023 Ligier European Series was good for me because there were some good results and podiums but, most importantly, a lot of learning,” said Aguilera. “I’ve been preparing for the 2024 season by spending a lot of time in the simulator and at the gym, and by racing Radicals in the United Arab Emirates to keep me sharp and in a car during the off-season.
“I chose to stay with RLR MSport because we got on very well in 2023 and I think it will be key for my development to remain with a team I know, and one that has been successful in the Ligier European Series. My hopes and expectations are to simply do my absolute best with the view of winning.”
