Will Hunt is set on kickstarting his title bid by achieving a large points haul in the opening instalment of the 2021 Radical SR1 Cup on the Snetterton ‘300’ circuit (24 April).
Official Radical Sportscars testing at the Norfolk venue consisted of several 25-minute race stints that tested Hunt’s endurance and provided reams of data on a broad range of car setups, which ultimately yielded competitive lap times.
The test also highlighted the strength and depth of the 2021 SR1 Cup field, as a number of new threats emerged.
However, Hunt’s off-season preparations have been class-leading, and physically fitter and mentally stronger than ever before, the Motorsport UK Academy driver returns to Snetterton with confidence and a keen desire to lay solid foundations for a full-on title attack.
“I’m seriously excited about getting the 2021 Radical SR1 Cup underway, as it has been such a long time since my last race,” said Hunt. “It was nice to get back behind the wheel and get reacquainted with the car once again in official testing at Snetterton a couple of weeks ago, and I feel more prepared than ever before. To me, it seems everything is lined up for 2021 to be a particularly good year, and there’s a real air of excitement and optimism within Scorpio Motorsport.
“Having won the Rookie Cup in 2018, suffered a great deal of misfortune in 2019, and hit several important milestones in 2020, I’ve endured all the ups and downs of motorsport and emerged as a better, well-rounded driver. I can honestly say I’m prepared for anything and capable of running the car at the limit in every race.”
Hunt added: “In the opening round at Snetterton, the main task will be to get points on the board, but I’m going into every race weekend to put the car on pole and win. Testing showed we have stiff opposition, but I realise I can’t control them and what they do. By simply focusing on myself, results should be forthcoming.”
