This is a short message introducing myself as Pioneer79 Swimming Club’s new Director of Swimming, and letting you know what I’ll be working on in the coming weeks and months.
Firstly, I’m honoured to have been asked to step up into the role of Director of Swimming during what it is without doubt the most difficult period of Pioneer79’s 41-year history.
Like many other organisations, we are working through the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the loss of our long term home at Accrington Academy.
My task, with support from all involved with Pioneer79, will be to ensure the club’s future by addressing the finances and working to find a permanent home for our swimmers.
In the coming weeks we hope to roll out our new competitive training structure, and we are also working out how to get more of our Learn to Swim programme back into the water as a matter of priority.
With good news coming over the weekend that leisure facilities may be re-opening in December, I hope to see you all soon.
