STATEMENT: Pioneer79 Swimming Club COVID-19 update 13.05.20
13 May 2020 | adminleveridge
I wanted to bring you all a short update on what has been going on at Pioneer79 Swimming Club in recent days.
Again, a huge thank you from myself as Chair, but also on behalf of the coaches, teachers, lifeguards, committee members and trustees, for your continued support.
The past week since my last update saw Mel Cronshaw deliver an insightful nutrition talk, and then some of our members and their families came together for our first club quiz on Friday 8 May (congratulations to the Eccleston family of BA3 on their win).
Dylan Slater became a two-time Strava Champion last week – well done Dylan – but this week’s winner is Mia Prickett, who is doing a great job of staying active in lockdown.
Looking ahead to Thursday (14 May) at 16:30, Olympic medallist Steve Parry will talk to us via Zoom about his life in and out of the water; this is open to all Pioneer79 members and their families, so sign up as soon as possible by emailing [email protected]
I was also involved in a second Swim Northwest Chairman’s discussion on how to support your club and membership during this ongoing health crisis. We still have no return date for swimming but will pass on any new information as soon as we have it.
I also want to reiterate that Pioneer79 will not profit from this period of self-isolation and social distancing; any additional monies after core staff have been paid will be given back to the membership in the form of further fee reductions or a hardship fund.
Finally, a reminder that the voluntary fee reduction (50 per cent of the normal monthly fee) is open to all from May onwards, and a big thanks to all those who can continue paying their normal rates.
Stay safe and well.
