RLR MSport auctions rear-wing endplate to raise funds for Australian bush fire relief

In a continued campaign to raise funds and awareness for the Australian bush fires relief effort, RLR MSport is auctioning a rear-wing endplate from the #59 ORECA 05 Nissan that set ablaze while in contention for victory in the Asian Le Mans Series 4 Hours of The Bend (10-12 January).
The British team was pushing for a second Asian Le Mans win at The Bend Motorsport Park, when fire broke out and caused extensive damage to the #59 LMP2 Am entry, which ironically sported a new livery in support of Australian fire fighters.
However, to continue raising funds for the exceptionally hardworking volunteer firefighters tackling the devastating Australian bush fires that are decimating much of the country, an eBay auction for a rear-wing endplate has been launched – http://bit.ly/2TxM8QR
Images show the endplate in its current fire-damaged state and fitted to the RLR MSport ORECA 05 just before disaster struck.
All proceeds will be split equally between the Country Fire Service (CFS) Foundation, whose mission is to provide immediate financial assistance and care to volunteer firefighters and their families, to offset suffering and distress caused in the line of active duty, and the Asian Le Mans Series’ own Australian Red Cross bush fire appeal.
RLR MSport Director of Motorsport Operations, Nick Reynolds, said: “It was a sad end to our victory push in the Asian Le Mans Series 4 Hours of The Bend, but we haven’t lost perspective and forgotten the true devastation caused by the Australian bush fires.
“Our engineers and trackside support staff salvaged a fire-damaged rear-wing endplate from the wreckage and we’re auctioning it off in support of the Country Fire Service (CFS) Foundation and the Asian Le Mans Series’ Australian Red Cross bush fire appeal, to raise funds and awareness for the firefighters who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way. While a little charred, the endplate will make a superb display piece, so we encourage everybody to get involved by bidding and donating.”
Bidding has begun and the ten-day eBay auction – http://bit.ly/2TxM8QR – will end at 11:20am GMT on Monday 27 January.
